Last year I submitted designs for Spring/summer 2023 to Quince&Co, a stylish American yarn company.
Quince had for a long time been on my radar, as I loved the aesthetic of their website, and the designs of the creator Pam Allen.
I’ve never used their yarns for a garment (although I have a feeling I may have bought something from Loop London several years ago for swatching?) but I love the subtle colour palette and good quality yarns.
I really hoped they would select one of my designs – but was delighted when they selected six!!
The six samples were delivered in January, and finally this week they informed me that the patterns would be published on their website over the next week, starting with the first 2 designs using their gorgeous organic Sparrow linen – Rue and Genevieve. The whole collection will then be marketed as Artisan Collection, sold through the Quince website.
Rue is a loose, blouse with long sleeves and an openwork yoke pattern. The drawstring neck and cuffs are fastened with a contrast i-cord.
Genevieve is a short garter stitch top with a square neck, three-quarter length sleeves, and an extravagant ruffle hem!
Both designs take advantage of the lovely weight and drapeyness of the linen yarn. Sparrow linen comes in 34 gorgeous subtle colours, and I can’t wait to see both these pieces knitted up by others!
