Aster top

Knitting magazine issue 231 features a new design from me using one of my favourite stitches.

Aster stitch has an almost crochet-like appearance, but is in fact a knit stitch. It looks especially effective when used in two colours, especially when one is white.

For my sample the magazine editor asked me to use Rowan Summerlite 4 ply cotton in shades Periwinkle and Pure White. The design is part of a feature in the magazine highlighting Pantone’s colour of the year –  Very Peri – a shade of periwinkle blue.

Last year I spotted a bed of periwinkles on one of my riverside walks, and posted an image on Instagram, as I thought the colour so gorgeous (featured below).

Two flowers for the price of one!
