Ennerdale cardi

This month’s Knitter magazine (issue 157) features my design for a textured cardi – Ennerdale. The name refers to one of the beautiful areas of the Lake District, England. I couldn’t resist adding an image from the National Trust website.

The cardigan design was created with the idea of trying to create 3D flowers in knit.

I wanted the hem of the cardi to look like a cottage garden, with different types of flowers. This involves working from several different graphs at the same time, and it took quite a while to work out. Hopefully, the results are worth the effort!

The cardi also features neat tailored shoulders. The yarn is a lovely heathery DK wool called Lore, from The Fibre Co.

Photos are taken from The Knitter magazine, and others are by me.
