Cassandra

I’m very pleased to have released a new pattern – Cassandra Lace Wrap
This hasn’t appeared anywhere else, and is something I have been working on for a while.
As keen followers may have noticed – I love garments that wrap around the body! This may well be because they suit my body shape (tall with small bust), but there is also something of the Regency style in this one, and I do find that a very elegant period for fashion.
I recently watched a repeat of a BBC dramatisation of Jane Austen’s Emma – and am currently reading the book (for the first time!) – and loved the costumes. Empire-line dresses, and short fitted jackets actually hide a multitude of lower-body sins!! Consequently, I named this garment after Jane Austen’s sister – Cassandra.

It’s knitted in Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace – a fine yet springy 100% wool laceweight yarn, and I used quite large needles – 4mm – so it is a relatively quick knit.

It took several attempts to get the shape right, and I am very pleased with the result. (I’ve also added the option of a ribbed tie-belt that can be tied at the front).

Hope others like it too!
